Is Your Community Ready for Electric Vehicles?

What do you need to get your community ready for electric vehicles? To help answer that question, Chicago Area Clean Cities, the Metropolitan Mayors Caucus and Greenlots hosted a thought-provoking webinar on June 23.

The number of electric vehicles (EVs) on U.S. roads is projected to reach nearly 19 million by 2030, up from 1.3 million at the end of 2019, according to the Edison Electric Institute. Annual sales of EVs are projected to exceed 3.5 million vehicles in 2030, reaching more than 20{7f64623feb15e8ba3e2cc4fa119ce7bf1799c4d1be9e5e533264580cd485c622} of annual vehicle sales in 2030.

The Mayors Caucus provided a snapshot of an upcoming “EV Community Readiness” toolkit under development to help local governments in the transition to plug-in electric and hybrid vehicles. Greenlots highlighted steps you need to take to have adequate charging infrastructure in place to support EVs.

Presenters included Edith Makra, Director of Environmental Initiatives for the Metropolitan Mayors Caucus; Tim Milburn, Advisor, Green Ways2Go; and Jim Matthews, Regional Sales Manager, Greenlots.

This is the third webinar in CACC’s Green Drives Webinar Series. As a part of the series, we are featuring topics that will help you to efficiently manage your fleet and reduce emissions.
