Why Support CACC?

Chicago Area Clean Cities recently celebrated its 25th anniversary as a coalition. We would like to extend an invitation for your organization/company to become a sponsor of our coalition and a supporter of our mission to better the community that we serve.

Chicago Area Clean Cities (CACC) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit coalition focused on promoting cleaner energy for transportation and automotive fleets in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs. CACC is one of more than 90 coalitions across the country affiliated with the U.S. Department of Energy’s Clean Cities program, which brings together stakeholders to increase the use of alternative fuel and advanced-vehicle technologies, reduce idling, improve fuel efficiency and air quality. The coalition concentrates its efforts on educating businesses and municipalities in the six-county Chicago area, including Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry, and Will counties.

The transportation sector is one of the largest contributors to U.S. greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Transportation accounted for the largest portion (28{7f64623feb15e8ba3e2cc4fa119ce7bf1799c4d1be9e5e533264580cd485c622}) of total U.S. GHG emissions in 2016, according to the Inventory of U.S. Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Sinks 1990–2016 (the national inventory that the U.S. prepares annually under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change).

Cars, trucks, commercial aircraft, and railroads, among other sources, all contribute to transportation end-use sector emissions. Of the nearly 7 billion metric tons of greenhouse gases the U.S. emits every year, 28 percent of those emissions come from the transportation sector.

Of course, driving your personal vehicle contributes to this pollution. However, if you manage a fleet of vehicles, the negative environmental impact is even higher. Light-duty vehicles contribute to 60 percent of greenhouse gas emissions in the transportation sector, and medium-duty and heavy-duty trucks – those used by commercial and government fleets – contribute to 23 percent of emissions within the sector.

One of the ways to have the largest impact on reducing harmful emissions from transportation is to reduce the impact that public and private fleet vehicles have on the environment and local air quality, which helps to contribute to cleaner air in our committees, leading to a reduction in respiratory ailments, such as asthma and lung cancer.

Your support gives us the resources to hold workshops and seminars, and work with area fleets, community leaders, and citizens, as well as assist in the increase of alternative-fuel vehicles/advanced technologies and fueling/charging infrastructure in the Chicago area. In our region, the coalition is a catalyst for expanding the fuels market and driving business in the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG); Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG); Propane; Electric; Bio-Diesel; and Ethanol and Hydrogen industries. As part of the DOE’s Clean Cities program, we support all fuel types in an effort to reduce emissions and strengthen the local economy.

Your support as a Premiere ($10,000), Diamond ($5,000), Platinum ($3,500), Gold ($2,500), Silver ($1,500), or Bronze ($1,000) Sponsor makes it possible for the organization to strengthen our commitment in meeting our goals and fulfilling our mission and vision.

Please review our sponsor member packet and select the sponsorship level that matches your organization’s needs. If you have questions, contact Joe Koenig.
